KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Family of Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) President Sharad Kumar Gauchan, who was shot dead in broad daylight in the capital on October 9, is to receive his dead body today.

The FCAN and Gauchan’s family denied receiving the dead body demanding prompt actions to the murderers, declaring Gauchan a martyr and guaranteeing security to the entrepreneurs.

According to Gauchan’s uncle Omkar Gauchan, they have agreed to receive the dead body when the Home Minister in a meeting with FCAN delegation was positive to declare Gauchan a martyr and assured to table the proposal in the cabinet.

Likewise, the Home Minister also pledged to provide full security to entrepreneurs.

FCAN Association Member Shiva Hari Ghimire informed that the mortal body of Gauchan will be kept at FCAN office in Bijulibazaar from 9.00am to 12.00 noon today for final tribute.

“The dead body of Gauchan will also be kept at Thakali Sewa Samaj, Balaju for the last homage today”, Ghimire informed.

FCAN has also said that they will enforce vehicular strike in different parts of Kathmandu for an hour today and halt traffic in main highways tomorrow in protest of the murder of Gauchan. RSS

KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) has decided to continue its protest programs until the murderers of FACN President Sharad Kumar Gauchan were found.

At a news conference organized at the Reporters’ Club Nepal on Wednesday, the FCAN has demanded that the government immediately nab the murderers of Gauchan.

President Gauchan was shot dead at Kharibot in New Baneshwor on Monday afternoon.

Acting Chairman of FCAN Bishnu Bhai Shrestha said that they were forced to go for movement by postponing the construction business across the country as the sector was deeply shocked by the murder of Gauchan.

Shrestha further said that that failure to nab the guilty even after the 48 hours of the incident was the weakness of the Home Ministry.

Saying that the ongoing agitation was just symbolic, Shrestha warned to stern agitations if the murderers were not punished.

Likewise, coordinator of agitation main committee and former president of FCAN Sakuntalal Hirachan demanded stern actions to those involved in murder of Gauchan and also demanded security to the other business persons.

Gauchan was shot dead by an unidentified group at Kharibot of New Baneshwor on Monday.

Former chairpersons of FCAN, its office-bearers, members and relatives of Gauchan organised protest rally from Maitighar to New Baneshwor. Participants in the rally demanded that Gauchan be declared a martyr and immediate action taken against the guilty along with guarantee of physical security of contractors.

The FCAN has in this regard already met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Home Minister Janardan Sharma, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Kedarnath Sharma, and chiefs of security bodies and put forth their concerns, including demands.

FCAN General Secretary Ram Sharan Deuja urged the government for the security of contractors, who he said are receiving threat calls from unknown callers since the murder of Gauchan. Meanwhile, the FCAN and family members of Gauchan said that they would not receive Gauchan’s body until the guilty are arrested. RSS

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 10: Federation of Contractors Association of Nepal (FCAN) has warned to hit the street if the government failed to arrest killers of its chair Sharad Kumar Gauchan immediately.

At a press meet on Tuesday, FCAN general secretary Ram Sharan Deuja gave deadline until the Wednesday/tomorrow evening to the government to find out the perpetrators in the killing of Gauchan who was shot dead by an unidentified group in broad daylight in New Baneshwor on Monday.

The FCAN has warned to launch a nationwide agitation and bring the construction works to a complete halt if the government failed to address its demand within the given time.

As shared by the general secretary in the programme, with the killing of FCAN chair Gauchan, its officials are too getting unknown phone class asking for money. He demanded the government guarantee their full security and bring the guilty to book.

He said they are not receiving the mortal body of Guachan which has been kept in the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) until police arrest his killers. RSS
