BHAKTAPUR: The School Leaving Certificate, Supplementary Examinations conducted by the Office of the Controller of the Examinations, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, has begun from today.

Deputy Controller of the Office, Pralhad Aryal, said that the examinations would be held till August 11.

The supplementary examinations have been conducted as a chance examination for those examinees, who failed in upto two subjects in the SLC examinations run from March 14-22.

A total of 111,000 students across the country have sat for the examinations and 236 examination centres have been fixed for the same.

One superintendent, two Assistant Superintendents and one invigilator equal to 25 students have been assigned to each centre.

A total of 55,000 students failed in Science, 50,000 in Maths and 31,000 in English subjects in the SLC examinations held in 2069 BS.

Only 41.57 per cent students have passed in this year’s SLC examinations.

A meeting of the SLC examinations board held decided to publish the results.

The exams were conducted in March this year, in which a total of 456,719 examinees had appeared. About 412,592 examinees were regular and 44,127 exempted.

This year onwards the OCE is not publishing the results in newspapers. Instead the parents and students can view the results on different websites including www.moe.gov.np, www.doe.gov.np, www.soce.gov.np and www.slc.tnc.np, among some others after entering their symbol numbers on the sites.

Last year, the OCE had published SLC result on June 13. This year’s SLC exams were conducted from March 14 -22.

Altogether 547,165 students had taken their exams. The first SLC exams were held in 1934.

A total of 547,165 examinees had sit for exams from across the country. Of them, 430, 097 in regular and 117, 068 in exempted categories. The examinations were held in 1786 centers. Kathmandu had the highest number of 86 exam centers and the least in Manang and Mustang one each.

The Examinations Controller’s Office, Sano Thimi, is expected to publish the result by June, within three months of the examinations.

KATHMANDU: Two fake SLC examiners were arrested from two different exam centres on Tuesday.

A fake examinee was arrested from  the Panipokhari-based Bhanubhakta Memorial School and the rest one from a centre in Mahottari district.

Keshav Thapa and Pradip Bohara were arrested after it was found that the former was sitting in the Social Studies examination today in place of Bohara, a student of the Sahayogi Pathasala Baikalpik Vidyalaya, Bhatbhateni.

The two have been taken to the District Police Office, Hanumandhoka after the arrest, said the District Education Officer of Kathmandu, Baikuntha Aryal.

The fake students are sure to face six months in jail or one hundred thousand rupees in fine or both. The SLC exam started on March 14 and would conclude on March 22.

Earlier yesterday, Deputy Controller of the Office of the Controller of Examinations, Sanothimi, Prahlad Aryal had said that the office has concludde all preparations for the examination.

The office has also arranged for keeping facilitators by hearing impaired examinees for half an hour.

Moreover, the selection of these people will be by the superintendent. Likewise, blind students can keep facilitators who are studying in class eight instead of the earlier provision of having passed class eight

BHAKTAPUR: This year’s SLC exams, generally  dubbed as iron gate for higher studies, is going to begin on Thursday. The Office of the Controller of examinations, Sanothimi, has urged everyone not to organise bandas and strikes during the examinations period. The exams would conclude on March 22.

All the preparations are complete, said Deputy Controller Pralhad Aryal adding question papers, answer sheets and all other materials have been sent to the security bodies near the examination centres in the districts.

The office has also arranged for keeping facilitators by hearing impaired examinees for half an hour.

Giving information on this, Controller Khagaraj Baral said the facilitators should be able to talk in sign language and be a teacher of lower secondary level.

Moreover, the selection of these people will be by the superintendent.

Likewise, blind students can keep facilitators who are studying in class eight instead of the earlier provision of having passed class eight.

He said the examinees cannot be deprived of examination if requested earlier if they have filled double registration forms, but certificates should be presented of annulment of one of them.

Some 547,165 examinees have been participating this year all over the country, whereas there are 430, 097 in regular and 117, 068 in exempted.

There are 1,786 examination centres across the country and Kathmandu has the largest number or 86 and the least in Manang and Mustang one each.

The office has assigned 1,786 superintendents, 2,655 assistant superintendents, 21,890 invigilators, 7,297 assistants, and 19,860 security personnel all over the country.
