KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Speaker Onsari Gharti has said the Legislature-Parliament had a significant tenure with long term effects.

Addressing the final meeting of the Legislature-Parliament Saturday evening, she informed that the parliament meeting was held for 666 times which passed 56 bills needed for the country and people.

During the term of this parliament, elections of the two prime ministers were held, budget and program and policies of governments brought. The laws directly related to public life –criminal and civil code – were passed by this parliament.

Speaker Gharti further said efforts were made to make the activities of the parliament effective and transparent. Discouraging extravagant expense, live telecast of parliament activities were ensured. Similarly, ‘Question and Answer with Government’, initiation of construction of parliament building, quarters for lawmakers were other initiatives.

She expressed happiness over the successful term. The term of this parliament is expiring this midnight.

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Speaker Onsari Gharti on Monday hosted a reception at the Legislature-Parliament, at New Baneswor, on the occasion of the third anniversary day of the promulgation of the Constitution.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshi, top leaders of major political parties, chiefs of constitutional bodies, lawmakers, industrialists, chiefs of diplomatic missions, media persons were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Speaker Gharti said that the constitution has moved ahead in the process of implementation.

On the occasion, she said that three-round of local level election was held and expressed the belief that the constitution implementation process would take a new pace after the elections of House of Representatives and State Assemblies scheduled for November 26 and December 7.

The Speaker also expressed gratitude towards those who participated and helped the constitution implementation process.

Speaker Gharti expected that the government and major political parties would be successful to complete the remaining task as per the people’s wishes and aspirations.

She also urged all sides to maintain collaboration and unity in days ahead too to fulfill the nation’s responsibility and address the people’s aspirations.

The Constituent Assembly had promulgated the constitution on Asoj 3, 2072. RSS

ROLPA, June 28: House Speaker Onsari Gharti today cast her vote under the second phase of the local level elections here.

Gharti cast her vote at voting center set up at the Baludaya Secondary School in Rolpa Municipality – 7.

In a brief statement to the journalists, the Speaker said she cast her vote for institutional development of the federal democratic republic.

Also Speaker Gharti’s husband and CPN (Maoist Center) leader and former minister Barsaman Pun also cast vote in the same voting center.
