KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa has said that the CA election should be conducted in the previously prepared legal provision adding that the new conditions just ahead of election was a plot not to hold the election.

Talking to a team of journalists led by Reporters Club Nepal Chairman Rishi Dhamala, Thapa said that election was needed to end the present political uncertainties.

“The new issues like threshold would not help create favorable environment for election,” he told journalists after receiving a memorandum submitted by Reporters Club Nepal’s President Rishi Dhamala.

Thapa also brushed aside the issue of resignation of Chairman of Election Council of Minister Khil Raj Regmi from the post of Chief Justice and termed ‘non-sense’ to such demand.

“Did Regmi himself ask the politicians to be the Prime Minister,” he asked adding slamming the Regmi-led government after its formation is equal to destabilizing the election.

Saying that agreement has been made to conduct the CA election by third-week of November, Chairman Thapa also claimed that those demanding to declare the CA poll date everyday are not wishing to face the election in the real sense.

“We have a strong government to hold election. The government is only to create environment. The election commission is there to do all others. None should cast doubts as preparations are underway for holding the election,” Thapa claimed.

Thapa also thanked Dhamala for prodding the politicians for consensus at a time when the country was falling in crisis.

Submitting the memo, Dhamala said the Club would pile pressure on political parties for forging consensus as consensus was a must to hold the CA in time in an amicable environment.

The Club has also submitted memorandums to Chairman of the Interim Election Council Regmi, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and other top leaders of different political parties including Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya and others.

Similarly, Dhamala urged Thapa to incorporate the voices of all dissenting political parties as their participation was also required for holding the polls.

Dhamala urged Thapa and top politicians to expedite process to ensure CA elections by December. He said that the Club would continue this initiative while handing over a memorandum to Thapa.
