KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Devotees have throng Sali Nadi, a holy river in Sankhu since Tuesday morning to mark the beginning of Shree Swasthani Barta Katha. Sali Nadi, which is mentioned in the hindu tale, has been a prime destination for the devotees.

The month long festival usually begins from the full moon day of Nepali Poush month (Jan/Feb).

Devotees take holy bath and fast for the entire month. It is believed that worshiping Goddess Swasthani will make one’s wishes come true.

Swasthani Barta Katha is a hindu tale of gods and goddesses consisting of 31 chapters recited every day for a month. Every night a chapter of the tale is recited in every households of Nepal till the 31st day, the next full moon.
