KATHMANDU, March 30: The examination of the temporary teachers scheduled to be held on April 6 has been postponed. This is the fifth time that the temporary teachers’ examination, which was supposed to decide the fate of the teachers whether or not to get the permanent status, postponed.

Issuing a press note Friday, the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) confirmed the postponement of the exam.

Chairman of TSC Tana Gautam said that the TSC was forced to postpone the examination after receiving a letter from the Ministry of Education though the final preparations for the examination were over.

Student unions and teachers’ unions close to different political parties had been protesting the government move to conduct the examination targeting the temporary teachers.

Likewise, a group of temporary teachers was staging a hunger strike demanding to call off the examination.

Likewise, the TSC said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held discussions with Minister for Education Girirajmani Pokharel, Finance Minister Yubraj Khatiwada and office bearers of the TSC regarding this issue.

The TSC said that the discussions were held whether to announce the advertisement in all open quotas as per the eighth amendment of the Education Act or as per the ninth amendment.

The TSC further said decision was made to postpone the examination for now as plans are being made to announce advertisement both in internal and open quotas simultaneously.

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Temporary Teachers’ Struggle Committee has decided to boycott the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) exam scheduled for coming August 19.

According to Committee Vice-Chair Jaya Narayan Dhakal, its members who have filled up the exam forms will boycott the exam, as per the decision of the Central Agitation Committee, until their demand for postponing the exam schedule by addressing certain conditions was met.

Besides, the Committee has warned to padlock the exam center if the government continues to ignore their demands. The agitation of temporary teachers is focused on piling up pressure on the government to reschedule the exam date as per the bilateral agreement reached on June 23.

Two of the agitators who are on a strike at Bhadrakali in the Capital since August 2 have been admitted to a hospital after their health condition deteriorated. RSS
