He was 78.

The former politburo member of the UCPN (Maoist), Shrestha is the member of UCPN (Maoist)’s general convention main organizing committee.

Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and top leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) reached the hospital after the death of Shrestha.

After the demise of Shrestha, UCPN(Maoist) spokesperson has said that death of Shrestha was an irreparable loss to the entire communist movement and the party as well.
