KATHMANDU: Vice President Parmananda Jha returned home late night on Sunday after completing his six-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China.

Upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the Vice President was welcomed by Chairman of Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi.

Ministers, heads and office-bearers of constitutional bodies, government secretaries, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai, chiefs of diplomatic missions in the capital and senior officers of security bodies were at TIA to welcome the Vice President.

On the occasion, a contingent of Nepal Army presented a guard of honour to the Vice President.

Speaking to the press at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Vice-president Jha said China has expressed its interest in supporting the socio-economic development of Nepal.

Describing his visit as fruitful, Vice-president Jha said his proposals of development issues of Nepal received a positive response.

“I requested for investment in infrastructure and hydropower development to which I received a positive response”, he said.

On the occasion, the Vice-president also said that the Chinese side shared with him the possibility of many more Chinese tourists visiting Nepal provided there were good hotels outside Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU: Vice President Paramananda Jha is leaving for Kunming, Yunnan province of China to participate in the inaugural ceremony of the First China- South Asia Exposition to be held at the Interactional Convention Centre from June 6-9, 2013.

VP Jha will address the opening ceremony of the exposition in Kunming on June 6.

On the same evening, he will leave for Beijing and is scheduled to meet his counterpart on June 7.

The First China South Asia Exposition is jointly organized by the provincial government of Yunnan Province and the Ministry of Commerce of PRC.

It is believed to serve as an important platform for trade expansion, investment promotion and cooperation for developing linkages with other countries and economies in the region. Themed as ´Shared opening-up, pragmatic cooperation, win-win results, and harmonious development,´ this First China -South Asia and Africa Exposition will be attended by high dignitaries from the countries in South Asia, South East Asia and Africa.

Senior officials led by Secretary of Commerce Mr. Lal Mani Joshi and more than Eighty exhibitors from Nepal will be participating in the Exposition.

The Nepalese delegation includes Secretary at the vice president´s office, Mr. Rabindra Mohan Bhattarai, Krishna Chandra Jha, Personal Secretary to the Vice President, and Joint Secretary Mrs. Ambika Devi Luintel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others.

The Vice President will return to Kathmandu on 9th June 2013.

BIRATNAGAR: Vice President Paramananda Jha has said that the media should pile pressure on the political parties to conduct the CA by mid-December.

Vice President Jha said the political parties activities are not supporting the election though the government was committed to holding the CA elections.

Jha said this talking to media in Biratnagar Airport today.

He also urged all political parties to make conducive environment to conduct the elections by mid-December instead of doubting the CA elections.

He also said that the dissenting political parties should not put the preconditions with the government and other political parties while in talks.

Vice President Jha, who attended a program at Pathibhara Temple in Taplejung on Sunday, returned to capital from Biratnagar by a helicopter of the Nepal Army.

DHADING: As scribes were prevented from taking photographs, mediapesons today boycotted a program attended by Vice President Parmand Jha in Dhading district.

Vice President Jha was attending the program as the chief guest organized by an organization of Christian community at Dhadingbensi.

The cops barred the journos from taking photographs of the VP citing security reasons. The journalists boycotted the program as the security personnel turned a deaf ears to their pleas for taking pictures.

Vice President Jha had reached Dhading Besi, the district headquarters as a chief guest in the programme organised by Christian community.

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s political parties have started discussions on picking Vice President Parmananda Jha to lead the electoral government, if by any chance Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi rejects the proposal.

VP’s name came as a back up plan while lead party leaders are stroll under discussion to finalise the framework of the electoral government and the responsibilities it will be entrusted to execute.

Discussions centered on VP as a response to queries of what parties ail do if Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi denies to accept the proposal of parties.

However if a government is formed in VP’s leadership, then parties are also discussing appointing political leaders as ministers in the VP led electoral government.

Senior leaders of lead political parties are presently in discussion at the President’s residence. The meeting is expected to come up with a package plan on amending constitution, forming political party mechanism to control and operate the electoral government, election date, authority of the government, and the tenure of the government among others.

Meanwhile the lead party mechanism entrusted with the responsibility to prepare detail action plan on the above mentioned issues has concluded. The task force will recommend their report to the lead parties today at Shital Niwas.

SOLUKHUMBU: Vice President Parmanand Jha has asserted that the President should be pressured to provide outlet to ongoing political impasse.

Speaking at the golden jubile ceremony of Tak Sindhu secondary school, Solukhumbu VP Jha said that Nepalese should pressure the President from all districts to act if political parties fail to come up with a resolution.
Stating that the primary responsibility to find resolution to crisis was of political parties, he claimed that ongoing status quo was due to partisan stance of political parties themselves.
He asserted that the Nepalese people were looking for election, the VP called on parties to form election government through consensus at the earliest.

Speaking at the same program, President of Reporters Club Nepal, Rishi Dhamala called on making educational sector a non-political zone.

Dhamala further said that commercialisation of education should be stopped to make education widely available to all Nepalese.

Chitra Raj Bhandari, KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Vice President Parmananda Jha has claimed that the Presidenct’s concerns were genuine and accused that the government was trying to politicise the institution to take undue advantage.

Speaking to a group of deusi-bhailo journalists led by Reporters Club Nepal at his residence in the capital on Tuesday, VP Jha expressed dissatisfaction towards Bhattarai’s recent accusations levelled against the President.

Jha further said that the nation should be given its local representatives and claimed that the it would be not good for the government if it fails to hold local elections by April.

VP Jha maintained that only political parties were capable of resolving the present crisis and ruled out any other alternative to it.

Referring to Hindu mythology whereby gods and demons churned the oceans to take out nectar, VP Jha said that political parties were yet to churn discussions to resolve the status quo.

Responding to the ongoing struggle between the government, opposition parties and the Presidency, Jha said that even if these forces don’t agree on tabling full budget, they should bring one third budget to keep the national economy floating .
