UML and Maoist Center unite in Jhapa

KAKARVITTA, April 22: Citing delay at the center in the unification process, ward units of the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have announced unification in Mechinagar of Jhapa.

Marking the foundation day of Communist Party of Nepal and Lenin day in Jhapa on Sunday, ward committees of UML and MC in ward no. 10 of Mechinagar municipality have become one. Earlier, the two parties had publicly announced that they would be united on April 22.

We decided to unite in order to exert pressure on the central leadership, Jhapa district committee advisor Bhim Khawas said.

The two parties also took out a joint rally in Dhulabari bazaar today morning and held corner meets and press conference. On the occasion a 77-member new committee was announced under the convenorship of Prakash Khadka. Earlier, Khadka was the UML chair for ward no. 10.

On the occasion, MC leader Hridaya Rajbansi said it was unfortunate that the unification process has stalled for reasons of sharing of posts, which he said, was giving a negative message to the people.
