US to support Nepal’s eco-tourism: Envoy Bodde

CHITWAN: US Ambassador to Nepal Peter W. Bodde has said that the US was ready to support Nepal in eco-tourism development.

Speaking after inspecting the electrical fencing installed at Gyaneswor block in Mangalpur of west Chitwan on Monday, he expressed the hope that the electrical fencing would help minimize the conflict between wild animals and humans in the area.

Shiva Raj Bhatt of World Wildlife Fund, Chief of Hariyo Ban Programme Dr Shanta Raj Gyawali and Chief of District Forest Office Dr Indra Prasad Sapkota and others were present on the occasion.

The eight kilometers long fencing was installed at a cost of Rs. 758,000 with support from the USAID Hari Ban Programme and the National Trust for Nature Conservation.

The Gyaneswor block covers the area of Setidevi, Gyaneswar and Siddhi Ganesh Community forests.
