Over 30,000 complaints registered at CIAA in a year



Kathmandu, Jan 24: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) last year received more than 9,000 complaints in compared to the previous year.

Over 30,000 complaints were registered at the national anti-graft body last year while this number stood at 21,000 the previous year, according to CIAA Under Secretary and Assistant Spokesperson Khagendra Prasad Rijal. Most of the complaints were related to education, health, local development and land disputes as of the previous year. The CIAA in this period moved to the Special Court, Kathmandu with 303 cases and witnessed a success in 82 per cent cases.
The CIAA has set up a free hotline number 107 round the clock since last week with a view to sharing and giving information regarding the organisation.
The CIAA, a constitutional body, has currently 820 employees and five regional contact offices– at Itahari, Bardibas, Butwal, Kohalpur and Bhimduttanagar.
Established in 1991, the CIAA is celebrating its silver jubilee on coming February 11.
