Workers buried in Arun III tunnel site rescued alive after 39 hours

KATHMANDU, June 17: Four people who went missing in the tunnel site of the Arun III Hydro Power Project in Sankhuwasabha district have been rescued alive after 39 hours.

Pradip Shahi, 32 of Siuna Rural Municipality, Kalikot; Prem Pariyar, 44, of Chandannath Municipality-1, Jumla, dozer operator Budhan Munda, 55, of Jharkhan, India; and pump helper Nanda Kishor, 45, of Bihar had gone missing after a huge landslide swept them away along with the dozer at around 8:40 am on Friday.

Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police personnel rescued the missing alive on Sunday.

They have been undergoing primary health checkup, according to  deputy chief district officer Mohan Mani Ghimire.
