Youths should involve in ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ campaign: Minister Bista

KATHMANDU, July 11: Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista said that the government would utilize the knowledge, skills and capability of the foreign employment returnees.

Addressing a national gathering organized by the National Youth Council (NYC) Nepal on Wednesday, Minister Bista said that the government would create conducive wherein the foreign returnees would be encouraged to use their skills and knowledge for the greater good of their own soil.

“The government will leave no stone unturned to make the optimum utilization of the skills and knowledge of foreign employment returnees youth,” reiterated Bista, adding that the government will mobilize the capital as well as recourses towards this end.

Stating that the government was also effortful to bolster the morale of the youths for them to consider investment in various enterprises in the country, the Minister noted that the development of the country was possible with the mobilization of youths.

According to him, the government would involve the foreign returnees to make Prosperous Nepal campaign a success and they would be mobilized as Labor Goodwill Ambassadors.

Minister Bista shared that the record keeping of the people leaving for the greener pastures was being streamlined and provision to send only skilled human resources for overseas employment will be brought forward in few years.

He informed that works relating to providing justice to the Nepalis in foreign prisons and those cash-strapped Nepali migrant workers suffering from coma has been forwarded.

Also speaking at the program, Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Biswakarma asserted that it was the responsibility of the youth to materialize the campaign ‘ Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.

He said that discussions were underway to find ways and means to mobilize foreign employment returnee youths in the development of Nepal.

According to him, the government was committed to promote self-employment in the country.

Similarly, Executive Vice-President of the NYC, Sudarshan Bidari said that the convention aimed at involving the youths returning from foreign employments in the development works in the country.

Likewise, Youth Self-Employment Fund Executive Director Bishnu Prasad Gautam said that the government has been providing loan in the nominal interest to promote self-employment among the youth.
Uttam Adhikari, one among 500 participants in the event, said that youths like him were interested in considering an investment in agriculture, tourism and hydro power sectors if the government would enable favorable environment for investment.
