KATHMANDU: The top leaders of ruling UCPN (Maoist) have reached Baitadi to attend the party’s district convention today.
The party said Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Vice-chairman and Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Vice-chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha are attending the program this Afternoon.
Meanwhile, the opposition parties have call Baitadi district shutdown to protest the Prime Minister’s visit. The security provision of the district also has been beefed up considering the possible clash in the district as the UCPN (Maoist) cadres and opposition parties’ cadres have met such clashes in the districts lately.
Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai also directed the officials in the district headquarters and told them to execute their jobs without any delay and provide speedy service to the recipients.
Security situation in the district has been made stern with the command under Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chhabilal Banjade.
Similarly, more security personnel also have been brought in from the nearby districts of the far-west, fearing possible clash between the cadres of the Maoist and opposition party cadres
