Former US President Carter meets Nepal’s top leaders
KATHMANDU: Visiting former US President Jimmy Carter today held separate meetings with top leaders of four major political parties.
During the separate meetings, the former US President discussed the issues pertaining to Nepal’s current political situation, upcoming CA polls and others, the leaders told media persons after the meetings.
During the meetings, Carter pledged to provide technical and physical support to hold CA polls in Nepal. The former US President Carter is conducting its programs in Nepal through the Carter Center.
Carter held talks with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, CPNU(UML) Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) Bijaya Gachhadar.
Carter who arrived in Nepal on Friday had already held talks with Nepal’s President Ram Baran Yadav and Chief of Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi.
