NC’s dissenting leaders’ voices to be calm down if polls date announced sooner
KATHMANDU: Central leader of the Nepali Congress Arjun Narsingh KC has said that the party’s stance on formation of the CJ-led government would end if the current government announces the date for CA polls immediately.
At an interaction program organized by the Reporters Club in the capital today, KC said all the NC leaders would go for elections unitedly despite their reservation over the formation of the CJ-led government. “Unity in the party inevitable to draft a democratic constitution,” he added.
The program was presided over by Club’s Chairman Rishi Dhamala.
The central committee of the NC is scheduled to begin on Wednesday and is expected to see heated debates over many issues including CJ-led government, upcoming CA polls and others.
He reiterated that the Chief Justice should quit as the head of the judiciary, respecting the principle of power separations.
On the occasion, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Pashupati Shumsher Rana said the country’s cannot back from the republic and ruled out the chances of party unification with Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal by accepting monarchy.
“We have accepted republic. Party unification with RPP-Nepal is possible if Kamal Ji (Kamal Thapa of RPP-Nepal) accepts republic,” Rana said.
Rana, however, said that referendum should be declared to take decision on whether or not to declare the country a secular state where over 80 per cent of its population is Hindu.
