Former PM Bhattarai bats for subsidy to farmers

BANEPA: UCPN (Maoist) Vice-chairman and former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that timely changes in the credit policy focusing on the farmers was needed to lure youths toward agriculture.

He was of the view that Government should provide subsidy to farmers who are compelled to take loan at high interest rate from the financial institutions.

The former prime minister was inaugurating an agriculture fair in Banepa on Sunday. The Sunkoshi corridor project is an answer to the problem of irrigation in Panchkhal and Bhakunde area of the district, he added.

The agro fair is displaying a variety of agricultural products of the district through 110 sales counters.
