Alliance with hardliner CPN-Maoist possible, UCPN (Maoist) leader says
DANG: UCPN (Maoist) leader and former minister Janardan Sharma ‘Pravakar’ has said his party would tie up with the CPN-Maoist in the upcoming CA polls. The CPN-Maoist was formed after a breakaway from the Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda-led UCPN (Maoist) last year.
Sharma’s comment comes just a day after the UML—a medium sized community party in Nepal—announced possible alliance with the NC in the elections.
At a meet the press here in Dang this morning, Sharma who won elections from Rukum in last CA polls said alliance with the CPN-Maoist is possible though there were some difficulties in this regard.
Sharma also said that the CA polls should be conducted by mid-November as there would be meager turnout if the elections were conducted after November reasoning that the people of the upper belt would get down in the mid hills and Tarai in the winter.
