Chairman Regmi renews call for talks to hardliner CPN-Maoist
KATHMANDU: Just a day after the CPN-Maoist chairman turned down the government’s official call to sit for talks, Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi toady repeated the same call urging the CPN-Maoist to come for talks to make environment conducive for upcoming CA polls.
Addressing a program on ‘Strategic Planning of Agriculture and Forestry University’ organised by the Agriculture and Forestry University and Michigan State University of the USA here on Wednesday, Regmi said that elections were the only the beginning point of our prosperous future and all should participate actively in polls by discarding any prejudices and distrust.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on May 13 had requested the political parties, which are against the election, to come for talks.
However, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya at a program in Dhangadhi said that the party would not sit for talks with the government in the present context while CPN-Maoist Secretary Netra Bikram Chand at a program in Butwal had claimed that his party was not formed to sit for talks with the Regmi-led government.
Regmi also said that the government was in a hurry to declare the date for CA election by creating election atmosphere.
