Hisila Yami for women empowerment for country’s development



BIRGUNJ: UCPN (Maoist) leader Hisila Yami has said that the programmes of women empowerment should be taken at the grassroots level to ensure women´s participation in the decision-making process.

At an interaction programme on “Violence against Women (VAW) in Madhes and Major Challenges against the VAW”, Yami said a prosperous Nepal was not possible until the women were brought in the mainstream of development.

She said the women of Madhes were inflicted to violence as they were deprived of education, health and employment facilities.

Yami said coordination and cooperation from all sides was needed to uproot the ill practices prevalent in the Tarai region.

The UCPN (Maoist) leader was of the view that maximum women candidates should be brought into the Constituent Assembly (CA) to ensure women rights and proportional participation.

Bhojpura State Committee Coordinator of the UCPN (Maoist) Pravu Sah said the government should implement special programmes with due planning and policies to ensure gender equality and rights to women.

Also speaking at the programme, UCPN (Maoist) central leader Anjana Bisankhe and Parsa Chief District Officer Kailash Kumar Bajimaya opined to pay attention to women empowerment for overall development of women.
