Couple killed in Khotang

KHOTANG: A group of gangsters murdered a couple in Khotang district. Chakra Bahadur Giri, 78, and his wife Lilamaya, 75, of Patheka VDC-4 were hacked to death with sharp weapons on Friday night.

Police Inspector Ramesh Kumar Dev said the couple was attacked while going to bed after dining.

The gangsters have also attacked the couple’s son Amar, police said. Amar has sustained deep injuries in his head while trying to save his parents from the criminals’ attack.

The criminals have also looted two tola gold from Lilamaya after murdering her, the Giri family said.

Police are yet to identify the gang involved in the incident. According to the police, information regarding the case was received late due to lack of phone access to the area and isolated location from settlements.

Efforts are underway to bring the dead bodies to Diktel, the district headquarters, for postmortem.
