NC open to discuss issues raised by hardliner CPN-Maoist: NC Veep Poudel announces
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the NC was open to discuss all the preconditions raised by the hardliner CPN-Maoist provided that the CA elections were conducted on November 19.
Speaking at a program on the fifth anniversary of Lokkhabar Weely in the capital today, Poudel said the NC was ready to forge consensus in all points raised by the CPN-Maoist adding that the poll should be conducted on November at any cost.
He also said that the NC was committed to holding discussions by calling an all-party meeting as demanded by the CPN-Maoist.
On the occasion, NC leader Arjunnar Singh KC said that election was impossible without participation of Baidhya-led Maoist.
Likewise, NC leaders Prakash Sharan Mahat and Minendra Rijal also said that the NC would take initiative to bring the CPN-Maoist on board the election.
Editor of the paper Saroj Adhikari, Chairman of Press Council of Nepal Borna Bahadur Karki, Chairman of Federation of Nepali Journalists Shiva Gaunle, Chairman of Press Council of Nepal Kiran Pokhrel, Reporters Club Chairman Rishi Dhamala and senior journalist Harihar Birahi among other journalists stressed media’s role for press freedom, welfare of working journalists and CA election.
