19th Cooperative Day marked



KATHMANDU: The 19th National Cooperative Day has been marked today organizing various programs across the country.

At a program in the capital today, Chairman of the Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi lauded the roles of the cooperatives for the nation building process.

He said, “cooperatives movement has taken a momentum, the people suffering poverty will rise in economic status due to cooperative.”

On the occasion, Drabyalav Saving and Credit Cooperatives, Mahabaudha, Kathmandu, handed Rs 251,111 to the Chairman for the assistance of the flood victims of Darchula district.

The National Cooperatives Association conferred this year’s Best Cooperatives Award to the District Cooperatives Association, Lalitpur.

Former finance minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari said cooperatives was essential for cooperative feeling and economic development.

During the program, a book, ‘Country Development through Cooperatives’ penned by chairman of the National Cooperatives, Keshav Badal, was released on the occasion.
