Suprabha quits Congress, after berth handed to Gagan

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress influential women leader and former CA member of the party, Prof. Suprabha Ghimire quit the party on Wednesday expressing dissatisfaction over the allocation of her electoral constituency to Gagan Thapa.

Ghimire had won the earlier CA elections against CPN UML’s Bidya Devi Bhandari from Kathmandu-4. Despite party policy to continue candidates who had won the earlier CA elections, the party allocated her constituency to Thapa.

Ghimire has claimed that her resignation from the party member came as protest against the unfair allocation of tickets and lack of representation of women in the party candidate line up.

Though the party is yet to confirm the replacement, reliable sources inside the party have confirmed the shuffling.

NC’s line up for Kathmandu constituencies, as informed by the source are:

1. Prakashman Singh, Kathmandu-1

2. Pratima Gautam, Kathmandu-2

3. Chakra Bahadur Singh Thakuri, Kathmandu- 3

4. Gagan Thapa, Kathmandu-4

5. Narahari Acharya, Kathmandu-5

6. Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Kathmandu-6

7. Pramila Singh Dangol, Kathmandu-7

8. Nabindra Raj Joshi, Kathmandu-8

9. Dhyan Gobinda Ranjit, Kathmandu-9
