Oli against extending PR list submission deadline
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader KP Oli has asserted that the deadline to submit the final list of winning candidates under the PR electoral system should not be the extended again.
“If the deadline is extended again, that would but protract the process,” Oli said. He was speaking at a programme organised at the Reporters’ Club in the Capital today.
Accusing the UCPN-Moist of disregarding the people by not accepting the verdict of November 19 elections, the CPN-UML leader claimed a high-level commission could not be formed as demanded by the Maoist party to look into the alleged poll rigging.
He however said that a parliamentary panel could be set up to investigate the alleged rigging while speaking at the program presided by the Club’s President Rishi Dhamala.
He opined that the High Level Political Committee (HLPC), which comprises of top leaders of UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front , should be scrapped for it failed to make any concrete decision regarding the latest political scenario.
Oli demanded that the new President should be appointed before the promulgation of new constitution.
“Yesterday’s constitution had chosen the President yesterday and today’s constitution has to choose the President today,” he said.
The UML leader underscored the need for the NC and CPN-UML going ahead with consensus and promulgate the new constitution within a year.
Responding to a query, Oli said his party is ready to take up the leadership of new government
