Bhattarai denies to join CC unless demands addressed
KATHMANDU: UCPN Maoist Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal and Vice Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai held talks for half an hour at the later’s residence in Lazimpat on Wednesday. Reliable sources claimed that the meeting mostly centred on differences that emerged between them during the party’s national conclave recently concluded in Biratnagar.
Dahal urged Bhattarai for holding Central Committee membership and to participate in the CC meeting, slated for Friday. However, Bhattarai rejected the request demanding reliable basis for the organizational transformation, source said adding that Bhattarai has made it clear that he does not sees any point in doing so, unless the organization is transformed.
“Party does not only belong to favoritist, blind supporters, but also that of critiques, and that of with different opinions and views. The party should develop a system that promotes and respects such diversity,” the source quoted Bhattarai as putting to Prachanda, in reply to his request.
On the occasion, Bhattarai laid stress on the need to transform the basis of the party system, and also to move ahead on the path of social revolution through the drafting of progressive constitution.
Dahal’s personal secretary and UCPN Maoist CC member Chudamani Khadka said that the meeting remained cordial while informing that the meeting mostly concentrated on political and ideological issues and another meeting slated for Friday morning will discuss issues organizational restructuring.
