Price of gold‚ silver increases



KATHMANDU, March 22: Gold and silver became dearer as their prices went up by Rs 200 per tola and Rs 10 per tola, respectively over the week, from March 15 to 20.

The market opened on Sunday with gold price fixed at Rs 50,500 per tola and its price remained unchanged on Monday.

The bullion price slumped by Rs 250 per tola on Tuesday to be traded at Rs 50,250 per tola and continued its free fall the next day as well. Gold price went down by Rs 150 per tola and was fixed at Rs 50,100 per tola on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the price of the precious yellow metal went up by Rs 600 per tola in a single day to be traded at Rs 50,700 per tola and remained the same on Friday — the last trading day of the week.

Similarly, price of silver also increased by Rs 10 per tola during the six trading days of the week. Silver was traded at Rs 675 per tola on Sunday — the first trading day of the week — and remained unchanged till Wednesday.

The price of the white metal edged up by Rs 10 per tola on Thursday to be fixed at Rs 685 per tola. Price of silver remained unchanged on Friday to close the week’s trading at Rs 685 per tola.
