Three arrested with three quintals betel nut

KATHMANDU, March 25: A squad of Armed Police Force nabbed three persons with three quintals of betel nut being smuggled to India from Matihani of Mahottari this morning.

The arrested are Jayanepal Yadav (30), Ranjit Yadav (25) and Pramod Yadav (35) of Tulsiyahi Jabdi VDC-6 of Dhanusha, confirmed the APF Border Security Office, Mahottari.

The patrol team headed by APF Inspector Krishna Poudel arrested the smugglers while the latter were heading to Madhawapur, India.

Inspector Poudel informed that they were able to net three out of five smugglers as two of them managed to flee the scene.

The confiscated nut and five bicycles used for smuggling have been handed over to the District Customs Office for necessary investigation and legal action.
