A lawmaker who is also a former ambassador to the U.S. and an aide to the prime minister reportedly were among the victims.
The Department of Civil Aviation says preliminary information shows that the helicopter crashed and burst into flames in Semenyih town on Saturday.
Police say three charred bodies have been recovered so far. The Star English-language newspaper reported in its online edition that lawmaker Jamaluddin Jarjis, a former ambassador to the U.S., was among those on board.
The report said the victims also included an aide to Prime Minister Najib Razak. Rescuers were still searching the crash site for other passengers, and no further information was immediately available.
