Apex court moved for single trade union
KATHMANDU, Apr 9: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court demanding termination of all trade unions and organisations having different political affiliation, so that a single trade union could be instituted.
Reasoning that trade unions with political affiliation are against the Civil Service Act and Regulation, advocate Arjun Kumar Aryal filed the writ at the SC on Wednesday.
Through the petition, he has also demanded to invalidate activities of the mushrooming trade unions, except collective bargaining till settlement of the writ.
In the writ, advocate Aryal has made the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of General Administration, Department of Labour and various trade unions defendants.
