2nd Sichuan International Travel Expo-2015 concludes in China



Kathmandu, Oct 1: Nepal has taken a step forward on the promotion of its tourism in the international market by publicising its handicraft products in the 2nd Sichuan International Travel Expo- 2015 in the Emeishan city of Sichuan province of China.

Organised by Nepal Tourism Board in coordination with Nepal China Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the six-day expo that concluded on September 30, featured various Nepalese tourism attractions including handicraft items and the Pagoda style of Nepal.
Nepal had separate stalls in the expo, showcasing such Nepali tourism attractions, where the visitors were informed about Nepal’s tourism through audio and visual presentations and papers mentioning information about Nepal were also distributed among Chinese visitors.
Twelve Nepalese handicraft companies promoted their handicraft business at the Expo. On the occasion, Mr. Kevin B. Murphy, Chairman of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) visited Nepali stalls and assured of the support of PATA for the revival of post earthquake tourism of Nepal.
Likewise, discussions were held in the expo that direct flights from Chendgu, the provincial capital of Sichuan of China to Kathmandu, may create immense opportunity for the expansion of Nepal’s tourism. About 150,000 people visited the expo, the event organisers said.
