UML chair Oli will lead new govt: leader Poudel



Kathmandu, Oct 6: CPN (UML) deputy general secretary Bishnu Poudel has said that the UML chair KP Sharma Oli would lead the new government on the consensus among the major political parties.

Speaking in a face-to-face programme organized by Reporters’ Club here today, leader Poudel shared that the major parties had a gentleman’s agreement to elect the chair Oli as Prime Minister, and for post of President to Nepali Congress and Speaker to UCPN (Maoist).

He said the parties were doing homework in this connection as well. Leader Poudel stressed on a vibrant and effective coordination among the parties for the implementation of the new constitution and new construction projects as the nation had faced huge destruction due to the devastating earthquake.

The UML leader added that the border blockade cannot long last as the rights to transit was a major right of landlocked countries.

Talking in another context, leader Poudel clarified that his party was clear to resolve the terai protest as the party has opined for maintaining constituencies on the basis of population and territory and for ensuring inclusive and proportional representation.

On the other hand, he clarified that the person receiving the citizenship under the ‘naturalized citizenship provision’ could not be established in Nepali politics for the welfare of nation and people.

Leader Poudel urged the agitating parties to resolve the terai issues through talks. He added that the incumbent government can’t complete constitution amending process even through the due process.
