House meeting postponed till Dec 23 for ‘serious’ talks with UDMF



Lawmakers stress to make election system cost-friendly

KATHMANDU: Major political parties have agreed to hold discussions with the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front by postponing the ongoing meeting of the Parliament till December 23.

Accordingly, the House meeting held briefly on Friday was postponed for 11 am on December 23.

A meeting held among Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, UCPN-Maoist, Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal and Madesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic at the Office of the Speaker at Singha Darbar had decided to delay discussions on the Constitution Amendment Bill to address issues of the agitating parties.

RPP-Nepal Chief Whip Dilnath Giri said that the meeting decided to postpone the meeting till December 23 to hold discussions with the UDMF seriously in order to address the ongoing Tarai-Madhes agitation.

NC President Sushil Koirala, UML senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and MJF-Democratic Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar were present in the meeting.
