Single women in Jhapa submit memo to PM
Bhadrapur, Dec 28: The association of single women in Jhapa has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding action against those insulting the President Bidya Devi Bhandari during her visit to Janakpur on Bibaha Panchami.
The cadres of the United Democratic Madheshi Front staged demonstrations in various places across Janakpur in protest of the Head of the State’s visit to the Janaki Mandir (Sita’s Temple) on December 16.
A team of the Single Women for Human Rights, Jhapa led by its President Rekha Adhikari handed over the memo to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli through the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Jhapa, pressing for stern action against those humiliating the President.
“Although the constitution has endowed all with equal rights in the democratic system, those humiliating the President Bidya Devi Bhandari challenging the State, should be brought to book,” reads the memo.
CDO Tej Prasad Poudel, receiving the memo, pledged the team of visiting single women the earliest delivery of the memo to the PM.
