Finance Minister for acceleration of under construction irrigation projects



Kathmandu, Dec 28: Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel met with Irrigation Minister Umesh Yadav on Monday and took stock of the under construction irrigation and river-control projects. Chiefs of projects concerned were also summoned by the Finance Minister to brief him about the progress on the projects.

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance. The under-construction Babai, Bheri Babai Multipurpose, Rani Jamara, Sikta, Sunkoshi-Morang, Sunkoshi-Marina, Sunkoshi-Kamala and Kaligandaki Tinau Diversion projects were the agenda in the meeting that took place at the Ministry of Finance.

On the occasion, Minister Poudel directed the chiefs of projects concerned to work in an effective way so that big projects could complete on time, according to Finance Minister’s press advisor Mohan Chapagain. Besides, they were urged to work with maintaining intra-ministerial cooperation. He pledged his full support to complete the development projects within the deadline.

Finance Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi and Irrigation Secretary Anup Kumar Upadhyay pledged sufficiency of resources necessary to execute the projects of national pride.

Chiefs of projects apprised the Finance Minister that budgetary constraint, lack of construction materials, problems in land acquisition and ongoing fuel crisis have caused obstructions on timely completion of the projects. They pledged not to leave any stone unturned on their parts to accelerate the projects. RSS
