CIAA can continue investigation on Sajha Yatayat’s Chairman Dixit, says SC

Kathmandu, Jan 5: The Supreme Court has said Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) could continue investigation on Executive Chairman of Sajha Yatayat, Kanak Mani Dixit, although the CIAA’s summon to Dixit was not clear what legal process was initiated against him.

The division bench of Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha and Justice Om Prakash Mishra issued such order on Tuesday. In the order, the SC, however, said the CIAA did not mention clearly as per which law Chairman Dixit was summoned.
The CIAA, on December 3, had written a letter to Chairman Dixit asking him to be present before the CIAA office. Arguing that it was not clear for which reason he was called, but treated as if he was a criminal, Dixit had filed a writ petition at SC, demanding the cancellation of the CIAA’s summon.
Chairman Dixit was handed over a CIAA letter by its security persons at Tribhuvan International Airport while he was about to fly to India. To this, he had complained why he was handed over the letter as if he was a notorious criminal.
The SC, in the order, said the activities of the CIAA could not be interfered with.
