NC Prez Koirala meets with UN under secy Feltman



Kathmandu, Jan 9: Visiting Under Secretary-General for Political Affairs at the United Nations Jeffrey Feltman called on former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala at the latter’s residence in Maharajgunj in the Capital today.
During the about one hour-meeting, Koirala is said to have briefed Feltman about Nepal’s latest political development and ways to end current political crisis. He also told Feltman said that country’s crisis would be ended soon through democratic means and that dialogues were being held to resolve it, a source said. “NC in capacity of the largest party with majority seats in parliament is taking forward the process to end Indian unofficial blockade and address humanitarian crisis triggered by the blockade-caused shortage of essentials and gasoline. And the problems will be resolved soon,” Koirala is said to have told Feltman as saying.
Koirala’s diplomatic affairs advisor Dr Dinesh Bhattarai said that leader Koirala also thanked UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon for his support in helping resolve crisis. He told Feltman that the process to make amendment to the constitution has been moved ahead to resolve crisis.
In response, Feltman expressed wishes that humanitarian crisis facing Nepal come to an end soon. Acknowledging and praising Nepal’s role in world peace building and world prosperity, Feltman pledged that UN would continue its help for development, political stability and lasting peace in Nepal.
