Congress leader Dahal passes away



Kathmandu, Jan 17: Nepali Congress leader Birendra Dahal passed away last night in course of treatment for the renal disease at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj. He was 67.

Party President Sushil Koirala and cadres were at the hospital today to pay last tributes to the late leader.
He was born in 2005 Bs in Tehrathum of eastern Nepal and was sent in exile in India in 2018 during the regime of King Mahendra Shah for his active involvement in the movement launched for the restoration of democracy in the country. He later returned home with party veteran leader Girija Prasad Koirala (the late), according to his younger brother Pitambar Dahal.
He was a bachelor and is survived by five brothers and three sisters. His last rites will be performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat today itself, the family source said.
