PM Oli urges athletes to think about the country while on ground



Kathmandu, Jan 19: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the U-19 National Cricket Team to think about the country while on the ground. The team is leaving for Bangladesh to participate in the U-19 Cricket World Cup to be held next week.

Wishing success to the team members and office-bearers at his official residence at Baluwatar today, Prime Minister Oli said, “Remember the country and Sagarmatha while you are on the ground so that you can score sixes and fours as well as take many wickets.”Stating that self-confidence and discipline were necessary along with capability to achieve success in the game, he said, “Youths have now been attracted towards cricket. Although Nepal made late entrance in international cricket, it has enhanced country’s pride.”

The PM said that he on the behalf of the government was ready to provide maximum support to the cricket if CAN comes with a proposal, saying the government was conscious for the cricket development.

Similarly, Minister for Youths and Sports, Satya Narayan Mandal, Member Secretary at the National Sports Council, Keshav Kumar Bista, Ad hoc Committee Chairman of the Cricket Association of Nepal, Ramesh Silwal, among others said that the country has expected good results from the Nepali youth players.

Chief Coach Jagat Bahadur Tamata and Captain Raju Rijal expressed commitment to make people elated after producing good result.

The team comprising 20 members is leaving for Bangladesh on Wednesday. RSS
