Government will prioritize reconstruction: Minister Basnet
Trishuli, Jan 21: Minister for Home Affairs Shakti Bahadur Basnet said the government would give priority to phase-wise reconstruction works with the establishment of the Reconstruction Authority.
After distributing warm garments to earthquake survivors in Gaun Kharka VDC -7, Minister Basnet said the government has started work on a systematic footing for reconstruction. He said the organizations that have gone to villages for rescuing the quake survivors and distribute relief at a time when the government has not been able to lend full support deserve gratitude.
On the occasion, former minister and Nepali Congress lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC said the disaster unleashed by the earthquake must be taken as an opportunity.
Former Foreign Minister and CPN (UML) politburo member Mahendra Bahadur Pandey said the government has still not been able to daub medicine on the wounds of the quake survivors.
In the programme presided by Nuwakot’s Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal warm clothes were distributed to at least 828 families of Gaun Kharka VDC.
The quake survivors received winter gears as blankets, jackets, gloves, hot water bags and caps.
