Measles epidemic grips southern village in Sunsari, killing one child



Inaruwa, Jan 22: An epidemic of measles has gripped the Devangunj VDC of Sunsari with a three-year-old baby girl already falling victim to it.

About 30 children in the village have been affected by the acute and highly contagious disease.Devangunj shares the border with India and the village caught the virus from the infected children who came here from India as guests to their relatives, the District Public Health Office Sunsari said.

Rekha Rhishidev, daughter of Mahendra Rhishidev was the girl succumbing to the disease, the Office said. She died in course of treatment at the local Public Health Center.
