Development of infrastructure for opening Korala point

Mustang, March 1: The construction works of physical infrastructures required for opening the Korala point which is considered the most appropriate transit point for Nepal-China trades have been expedited lately.

Preparations have been forwarded for the establishment of offices of security bodies, customs, immigration and others after a team of the lawmakers including the Chairman of Development Committee under the Legislature-Parliament Rabindra Adhikari made an onsite visit of the Korala point nearly two months ago.
The Development Committee had suggested the government to take diplomatic steps with China and develop the physical infrastructures in the area to immediately open the Korala point.
Chief District Officer of Mustang Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari said that the Department of Roads has started the construction and upgradation of roads and bridges while land plots have been selected for setting up the offices for the security bodies and customs.
Furthermore, the human resource in the customs office would be increased two-fold as the Jomsom-based customs office has already started its works from Korala point.
