Westerly brings change in weather



Kathmandu, March 14: A change of weather has occurred across the country due to the influence of the Westerly wind.

Most parts of the country are witnessing cloudy conditions and some parts of the western region have received rain due to this, meteorologist Shanti Kandel said.”Cloudy condition will prevail throughout the day today with possibility of rainfall in the hilly region and snowfall in the high mountainous region. Sporadic rainfall might occur in Kathmandu Valley towards the evening,” she said.

Most places in the western region of the country have been receiving intermittent rainfall since Sunday itself.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, Dipayal received 30 millilitres of rainfall, Dhangadhi and Birendranagar each 22 millilitres while Nepalgunj, Jumla, Dadeldhura among other places received light rain from Sunday morning till this morning.

The Westerly system that became active in the western parts of the country since Sunday is gradually shifting towards the east. However, most places of the western part of the country have cloudy condition today also.

Kandel said although the weather might somewhat improve by tomorrow morning throughout the country including in the Kathmandu Valley, cloudy conditions are predicted towards the afternoon and the weather will improve only from Wednesday.

The minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley today was 10.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is predicted between around 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
