Former Prime Minister Adhikari’s 17th Memorial Day



Kathmandu, April 25: The 17th Memorial Day of former Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari has been marked today.

At a programme organized at Manmohan Memorial Foundation in Sanepa, Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli offered floral tribute to the late Adhikari’s statue. Likewise, other leftist leaders highlighted his contributions to the communist and democratic movements of Nepal.
Recalling leader Adhikari for his pro-public works, Prime Minister Oli said his contributions to bring the democratic movement to this stage are remarkable.
“Adhikari’s name should not be omitted in the history of the country”, he added.
UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that today’s UML was the integrated form of then Marxists abd ML which was made possible under the leadership of leader Adhikari.
Also speaking on the occasion, UML Vice-Chair Bamdev Gautam, UCPN (Maoist) leader Amik Sherchan, Foundation’s Chairperson Bharat Mohan Adhikari, among others stressed the need of communist unity for the effective implementation of the constitution.
Leader Adhikari was born in 1977 BS and passed away in 2056. He was the first people-elected communist prime minister of the country and also the first chairman of CPN-UML.
