Supreme Court asks to CIAA over Dixit’s arrest?

Kathmandu, April 28: The Supreme Court on Thursday told the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to furnish details on why it arrested journalist Kanak Mani Dixit.

Hearing on a habeas corpus writ, filed by the detainee’s wife Shanta Dixit, the apex court also ordered the Commission to produce Dixit before the Court on coming Monday.  Shanta had filed the writ yesterday claiming Dixit, also the Chairman of Sajha Yatayat, was detained by the constitutional watchdog illegally.

A single bench of Acting Chief Justice Sushila Karki had conducted the hearing on the writ today. The Commission had arrested Dixit last Friday claiming it needed him in order to probe into corruptions charges filed against him.
