Eight injured after grenade goes off in armed police battalion



Tanahu, May 22: Eight armed police force or APF personnel were injured when a grenade bomb went off all of a sudden at the APF Manakamana battalion in Bhanu municipality-2 of Tanahu this afternoon.

The blast reportedly took place in course of a training. Of the injured, the condition of two including APF senior constable Dipesh Kumar Chaudhary and assistant constable Prem Bahadur Thapa is reported to be critical, according to DSP at the District Police Office Surendra Bahadur Gurung, who has reached the site of the incident. Senior constable Chaudhary has reportedly lost all his fingers in the blast.

Others injured include assistant constables Shovakhar Rijal, Prem Singh Bohara, Dipak Khadka, Hom Rana, Birendra Chand and Prem Ghartimagar. Following first-aid treatment at the Laxmi hospital in Dumre, the injured are being airlifted to Kathmandu, DSP Gurung said. RSS
