Newly appointed Communications Minister Karki assumes office



Kathmandu, Aug 14: Newly appointed Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki (Ram Karki) assumed office Sunday.

He was chosen the minister from the quota of the ruling party- the CPN (Maoist-Centre). He was born on October 14, 1956 at Rumjatar of Okhaldhunga district and had remained underground for 10 years during the decade-long insurgency in the country. He has been active in the politics for the past 35 years.

After assuming the office, the Communications Minister expected support and cooperation from the employees concerned during his tenure. He pledged to do his duty keeping him away from prejudice.

On the Occasion, Communications Secretary Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya welcomed the new Minister to the office. He briefed the Minister that around 30,000 employees work in the Ministry and its subordinate bodies.

National News Agency (RSS) Chairman Kulchandra Wagle, General Manager Nirmala Acharya, Press Council Chairman Borna Bahadur Karki and Nepal Television Chairman Mahesh Dahal were at the Ministry to welcome the new information minister.
