‘daayitwa’ to organize interaction program on women’s economic empowerment at Pagoda Hotel tomorrow
KATHMANDU, Feb 16: Social organization ‘daayitwa’ is organizing a one day long interaction program under the banner Women’s Economic Empowerment- stories, issues and possibilities in cooperation with UKaid DFID at Yellow Pagoda Hotel from 9 am to 4 pm on February 17.
Organizing a press meet at the Reporters’ Club Nepal today, daayitwo informed that 40 experts and stakeholders from different social-economic fields will take part in the interaction and discussion program and present their critical views on women’s economic empowerment.
Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla and secretary of Women, Children and Social Welfare Ministry Bishnu Prasad Lamasal will be the chief guest and special guest of the program respectively.
Similarly, secretary of Ministry of Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs, Leela Gadtoula, CEO of Mega Bank Anil Shah, former member of National Planning Commission Bimala Rai along with other members will participate in the program.
UN-High level panel on Women’s Economic empowerment had presented its finding in its report on September 22, 2016 which highlighted seven drivers to unlock the power of women to work and achieve their financial independence, such as tackling adverse norms and discriminatory laws, reducing and redistributing unpaid work and care, increasing access to loans and changing discriminatory business practices.
According to the organizer tomorrow’s interaction program will base the discussion on daayitwo’s findings on these seven drivers of women’s economic empowerment in Nepal, after having consulted with critics from Rupendahi, Surkhet, Solukhumbu and Kathmandu.
