Nepal faces second defeat in a row, loses to Bangladesh by 83 runs
KATHMANDU, March 28: Bangladesh has defeated Nepal by 83 runs in the ongoing ACC Emerging Teams Cup today at Siekh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh.
Following the target of 258 runs, Nepal only managed 174 runs in 42.3 overs losing all wickets.
After the second consecutive defeat, Nepal crashed out of the tournament. Earlier, Nepal was defeated by Pakistan by six wickets in the first match.
Nepal started badly as Skipper Gyanendra Malla crashed out early without any runs Dipendra Singh Airee (56) and Dilip Nath (41) shared a 98 run partnership.
Binod Bhandari hit 33 runs off 23 ball, Aasif Sheikh scored 12 and Mehabboob Alam 10 runs.
Earlier, Losing toss and batting first, host Bangladesh set a 258-run target for Nepal.
Bangladeshi U23 team scored 257 runs in 50 overs at the loss of nine wickets. Bangladeshi Nasir Hussein (not out) hit a ton and nine from 115 balls while Captain Mominul Haque scored 61 runs from 78 balls.
For Nepal, Abinash Karna took three wickets, Sandip Lamichhane claimed two wickets and Mehabub Alam, Captain Gyanendra Malla and Dipendra Singh Airi took one wicket each.
Nepal will play Hongkong in its third match on Thursday.
