NC’s Maharjan, Satyal elected mayor, deputy mayor in Lalitpur Metropolitan

LALITPUR, May 24: Nepali Congress candidates have been elected the mayor and deputy mayor in the Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

NC candidate for the city’s top job, Chiri Babu Maharjan, won with 24,642 votes, according to Chief Election Official, Bal Krishna Dawadi. His closest rival from CPN (UML), Hari Krishna Byanjankar, came as close as 24,316 votes.

In deputy mayor’s post, NC’s Gita Satyal was elected with 19,819 votes. Her closest contender, Shova Shakya, from the Sahja Party received 5,579 votes less. Shakya mustered 14,240 votes. The CPN (UML) and RPP had forged an electoral alliance for the local polls in Lalitpur. RSS
